Shows aromas of rich dark berry and even a touch of blackberry jam, with spice, nutmeg and floral scents. Smooth-textured and nicely firm on the finish, where the flavors linger with subtle flavor nuances. Drink now through 2020. 288 cases made.

Dark red. Lovely perfumed aromas of cherry, rose petal, sandalwood, sassafras, loam and fresh herbs. Distinctly Loire-like in its juiciness and texture, offering excellent cut to the intense, aromatic flavors of blueberry, currant, cherry, licorice, chocolate and spices. Finishes with a light dusting of tannins and a refreshing bitter edge. Real Old World elegance here, and already a delicious drink.

There is a certain Chinon-like sensibility to this very well crafted wine even while it shows a bit of California richness and fruity muscle, and it ranks as one of the more inviting and mannerly west coast Cabernet Francs to be found. Its well-balanced mix of cherries, fresh earth and subtle oak spice is sustained through a lengthy finish, and, if just tannic enough to firm at the end, it is always a classy and very professional wine the likes of which we would like to see more. Bright blue fruit berry more than plum, a very pretty and subtle spice on the nose with some violet. The palate has some pretty floral components with a smooth texture. Impressions of camphor, lavender,  and blackberry on the finish with hints of herb, coffee and chocolate.

Tart cassis and currant jam flavors fill this rich red, franc in its firm, stemmy-green highlights, Napa in its juicy dark fruit and French-oaked, cacao-nib tannins. Dark mineral edges emerge from those tannins with air, revealing the focus of a wine grown on volcanic rock. This is named for clone 214, which originated in the Loire, now farmed at Sugarloaf Mountain in Southeastern Napa Valley.

This is a softly appealing single-vineyard wine to drink now. It shows fine Napa Valley structure with gentle tannins and cleansing acidity framing cherry, sandalwood and sweet tobacco flavors. With such elegance, it will be a fine partner to steak. Steve Heimoff

The 2009 Cabernet Franc Two-Fourteen is a pretty wine with plenty of textural elegance and finesse. This is a mid-weight Cabernet Franc with lovely balance but not a ton of varietal character. Tobacco, herbs and crushed flowers linger on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. Antonio Galloni
